Why should I take this course?

Good question 🙂

Coaching and mentoring may sound very similar in concept but they are very different.

you might think mentoring and coaching are similarand Its TRUE, they both involve some sort of process where you find one or more HUMANS helping another other HUMANS to become the best they can be.

But they’re not the same at all.

Coaching and mentoring both warrant serious consideration in our lives, families, relationships, businesses and careers, etc.

They both require committed and positive action if you are to optimise your lives and those in it because they sort of work together but in order of process it is usually mentorship which comes first.

Mentorship most often flows into coaching.

So, what is the difference between mentoring and coaching?

Another good question 🙂

A). Coaching is tends to be very Task-Oriented with
The focus predominantly being on tangible issues relating to hard skills, such as managing more effectively and efficiently, speaking with greater clarity and articulation, increasing physical performance etc.

This calls for a skills development professional (coach) who is proficient at teaching a skill set to the coachee on how to develop and be competent at the skill at hand.

Mentoring deals more with the intangibles (the stuff you cannot see).

It is all about SUPPORT.

TRANSFERRING WISDOM!

You come when you are ready (no one is going to get on your back [that’s coaching lol])

B). Mentoring is usually an ongoing process.

You can never be transferred too much WISDOM can YOU?

Whereas Coaching Tends to be Short-Term.

YOU SEE, coaching is usually done on a
Coaching is often just done on a “as much as is needed” basis.

Once a skill is has been learned, the coachee usually either moves up a level or moves onto a next skill perhaps with another coach.

With mentoring the SUPPORT is there for YOU LONG-TERM when YOU NEED😎!

YOU CAN CANCEL ANYTIME 💕

C). Coaching is generally Measured & Driven by Performance whereas mentoring tends to be driven and measured by the development and transformation of the person. Its aim is to develop the individual for both short and longer-term goals.

Mentoring often leads to wonderful, meaningful and purposeful long-term relationships that coaching, by the nature of it, rarely does.

D). Coaching is More About the Skill Than the Person

Coaching in general does not require as much thought and planning behind it as mentoring does.

As we were saying It is less about the you and your personality, and more about your skill.

Coaching can be done almost on the spot without any thought for the person at all, except what is relative to the skill to be coached.

Whereas Mentoring has a longer, more meaningful and purposeful lead time and process.

* However coaching and mentoring do and can work very well in support of each other.*

Just like good sisters and brothers do.

You see, When Coaching is preceded by Mentorship, it takes coaching and skill learning to almost unbelievable levels.
